This wording is a placeholder written by the CubFable team and is not legal advice. It describes what the product actually does so it is a useful starting point, but it should be reviewed by a solicitor before launch.

Who we are

CubFable is the trading name of a sole trader based in Ireland who makes personalised children's storybooks, printed by a print-on-demand partner and posted to you. We are the controller of the personal data described here. For anything about your data, write to [email protected].

What we collect, and why

An account needs your name and email address. An order needs a delivery address and phone number, so a parcel can reach you. A book needs the child's first name and age band, and optionally a photograph of the child and of any family members you add, because the photograph is what makes the illustrations look like them. We also record a device identifier and recent IP addresses, used only to stop one household claiming a single-use offer many times over. When you sign up we ask where you heard about us, and we note where your visit came from (the name of the site you clicked through from, or the campaign tag on our own link, never the page you were on). We keep that on your account and your orders, without any extra cookie, and use it only to learn which of our marketing works.

Photographs of children

Uploaded photographs are treated as sensitive. They are stored separately from the artwork, never placed on a public web address, and are shown back to you only through a short-lived private link. They are used to generate your book's illustrations and for nothing else.

Who else sees it

Payments are handled by Stripe, who receive your billing and delivery details directly. Story text and illustrations are generated by AI providers, who receive the story details and any reference photograph needed to draw your characters. Email is sent through our mail provider. Books are printed and posted, which means a printer and a carrier receive the delivery address.

Cookies and analytics

Strictly necessary cookies keep the site working (your session, your sign-in) and are always on. Everything else is off until you agree in the cookie banner: if you do, we use Google Analytics to count visits and Microsoft Clarity to record anonymised replays of how pages are used (what is clicked and scrolled; anything you type is masked). We do not use advertising cookies, so these tools cannot recognise you across visits. You can withdraw your agreement at any time from the cookie icon in the corner of any page, which also deletes the analytics cookies that were set. Our own staff and admin area are never measured or recorded.

How long we keep it

Your account and its books stay while your account exists, because a finished book is a keepsake you may come back to. Delete your account and we delete it.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can unsubscribe from marketing email with the link in any of those emails, without affecting order emails, which are part of the service you bought. You may complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission.
