The Day the Wishes Got Swapped

The birthday child sets out to carry every stranger's wish back where it belongs, and finds out on the very first doorstep that their own wish was quietly granted long before they blew out the candles.

After flour on the ceiling, one sunken first attempt and a whispered trick passed down the family, the cake finally climbs, and the child stops asking whether their own hands are up to the job.

The Keeper of Birthdays

This year's jar has come back empty, and the only thing that fills it is giving away one thing you truly love. Deciding what to let go of turns out to be exactly what growing a year older means.
